New York City – ‘concrete jungle where dreams are made’. On top of all the dream creating that’s going on in this metropolis, a lot of other stuff happens. It’s mostly just normal day-to-day life. As a stranger to this city I’ve noticed mannerisms and characteristics New Yorkers – and New York – have. Some very cool, some slightly peculiar in my opinion.

I am a 33-year-old Dutchie who moved from Amsterdam to New York in October 2015. And like the first Dutch settlers of the Island of Manhattan mid 17th century, I am exploring my new world. I share with you my first impressions – the particularities that shape everyday life in the ‘greatest city on earth’.
